Finding My Voice: Why I Created Empower Vocal Wellness
Introduction
I’ve always loved the power of the human voice. Not just the sound itself, but what it can reveal — confidence, personality, power, and connection. Creating Empower Vocal Wellness was my way of combining lifelong passions for music and voice with my years of clinical experience to help people express themselves fully and authentically.
My Journey
I’ve been a vocalist and musician my entire life, exploring a wide variety of genres. My professional journey as a speech-language pathologist led me to the Massachusetts General Hospital Voice Center, where I spent 16 years working with some of the best clinicians in the field. Over that time, I learned something critical: every voice is unique, every person’s goals are different, and everyone can stretch and grow. From singers and actors to teachers, clergy, attorneys, and public speakers, to anyone who depends on their voice, everyone deserves individualized care to thrive.
What I Bring to My Work
What I hope people find in my care is expertise, compassion, collaboration, and empowerment. I meet clients where they are, helping them gain practical tools for independent voice management so they can thrive in their personal and professional lives. My goal isn’t to restore or improve a voice temporarily — it’s to provide guidance and strategies that allow each person to maintain and grow their vocal health for years to come.
Whether you’re navigating a voice injury, building endurance for professional use, or simply exploring how to use your voice more effectively, I strive to make every session supportive, engaging, and tailored to your unique needs.
A Little About Me
I’m a licensed speech-language pathologist in New York and Massachusetts and hold the Certificate of Clinical Competence from ASHA. I’m also a Pan-American Vocology Association-recognized vocologist and an affiliate member of the National Association of Teachers of Singing. I also teach Voice and Related Disorders at Ithaca College and St. Elizabeth’s University, and I’ve held teaching roles at MGH Institute of Health Professions and the New England Conservatory.
Outside of work, I’m a mom, a wife, a daughter, and a friend. I love to sing, play the harp and piano, read, and hike — all of which remind me how joy and creativity are the fuel for a fulfilling life.
Invitation
I’m excited to begin sharing insights, tips, and stories about voice through this blog. My hope is that it becomes a place where you feel informed, inspired, and empowered to explore and care for your own voice. Thank you for joining me on this journey — I look forward to hearing your story.
